“The end-to-end supply chain” has been a buzzphrase for decades. Is it finally becoming a reality?
Over the years, vows by software and logistics providers of their ability to enable end-to-end supply chains have not exactly proved realistic. Too many barriers, in the form of functional silos, inadequate information systems and lagging business processes, have stood in the way. Recently, however, the term “end to end” has begun to take on real meaning. We might finally be close to tracking and controlling the flow of product, data and funds all the way from acquisition of raw materials to delivery to the end customer. On this episode, we appraise the progress of end-to-end supply chains with Roddy Martin, chief digital strategist with TraceLink. He defines exactly what the term means, rates the extent of its existence today, and speculates on its eventual maturity, all with a particular focus on the life sciences and pharmaceutical sector. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Executive Editor of SupplyChainBrain.
